Youth clubs for children

“All of this has been created by a passionate and committed team and an inclusive ethos with free play at its centre.”

Free after school youth clubs for ages 5-11

RHJYC runs two open access youth club sessions for children aged between 5-11 years old at Rose Hill Community centre.

We follow a free play approach at all of our youth clubs. We believe that children should have the freedom to choose what they want to do and for how long.

Children can play together, be creative with our wonderful arts and crafts activities, learn about eating healthily through our fun food activities, get active by playing sports or in the playground, play games, dance, visit our allotment for engaging nature activities, or just chill out, all supervised by our dedicated, caring and qualified senior staff team.

Eating together is an important way for us to end our sessions. The children sit together and eat a delicious, nutritional and freshly prepared hot dinner, whilst chatting with their friends and our staff.

If you would like to join us, you can sign up in person at an after-school session, or you can sign up by filling out our online form.

Our youth clubs sessions are supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Partnership work

RHJYC works with local organisations and groups to provide exciting, engaging, accessible and creative opportunities for children and young people.

Music technology

We are working with Oxfordshire County Council to provide music technology activities at our youth club sessions.

The children absolutely love making music together, and they have produced some great tracks!

Thriving in Nature – Oxfordshire Community Foundation

Thanks to funding from Oxfordshire Community Foundation’s Thriving in Nature fund, children and young people can access fun and engaging nature activities at our vibrant allotment space, through our free after school youth clubs and holiday activity sessions.

Film Oxford at RHJYC

We have a very successful partnership with Film Oxford, who provide free filmmaking clubs for children and young people.

Film Oxford are also our event partners for the Creative Lights Festival, which happens annually in Rose Hill.

The Creative Lights Festival invites the community to Rose Hill Community Centre for a full afternoon of free creative and digital activities, followed by a lantern parade around the estate.

Every November, we have some wonderful lantern making workshops with local artists at our sessions, so the children can make their own lanterns for the festival.
